Tracy Design Studio in Houston, Texas, provides a full range of Architectural and Interior Design services to both residential and commercial clients. In this article, we will meet this company and look at some of its projects to get some upholstered furniture inspiration.
Tracy Design Studio offers a comprehensive range of architectural and interior design services to both residential and commercial clients. Their approach to residential projects is to strike a precarious balance between beauty and emotional substance; that is the heritage of Europe on the one hand, and American ideas of comfort and practicality on the other. If that balance is achieved, serenity and timelessness will follow, and these are what they seek above all.

George and Maria Tracy, an award-winning and published duo, are a formidable force. George, an Architect Hall of Fame recipient, taught design and graphics at the University of Houston’s College of Architecture and worked professionally in Multifamily, Churches, and School work. Meanwhile, Maria pursued a Masters in Architecture. They developed genuinely intense scholarly studies as a result of the long journey they embarked on together. The informed relationship between the interior and exterior became the carving out of spatial solutions for each project.
Maria set new standards of excellence in every market segment where she worked. She enables clients to be at the forefront of diverse and exciting projects in increasingly competitive national and international markets. Tracy Design Studio is constantly analysing costs while remaining on the cutting edge of the multi-faceted design field, taking into account the constantly escalating cost of construction, finishes, and furnishings. This has resulted in a large and well-known portfolio. Tracy Design Studio’s direction and design expertise are well respected and sought after due to their ability to listen to clients and enable them to bring their visions to fruition.
The Transitional Contemporary architectural style was chosen for this project.
The mission was to renovate and furnish the first floor of a new builder’s specification house for a busy family with two boys.
Tracy Design Studio proposed combining the family room with the downstairs guest room and bath. They designed a clean contemporary, horizontal wood paneling system that visually connected the spaces while creating three distinct but unified spaces: one for wine tasting at a table in front of the fireplace and bar, another for lounging and socialising, and the end cap, which included a Media Wall. The décor focuses on chic comfort with functional seating. The emphasis, as with all TDS projects, is on the interaction of pattern and texture, refinement, and authenticity.
The Transitional French Provencal architectural style was chosen for this project.
The ground-level archway leading into a rotunda was surrounded by archways as you walked through this Bastide-influenced home. This configuration evokes a sense of time travel, which is enhanced by natural, period materials. Roughhewn wood floors and antique, textured stone floors immerse you in the essence of a time-honored atmosphere. With its use of new technology, it elevates the old into the present, allowing the small spaces of yesterday to explode into the awe-inspiring spaces of today.
The British Yorkshire Countryside architectural style was chosen for this project.
Yorkshire done in the Houston style. While the British-influenced home uses space transitionally, the manipulation of the senses allows each room to have maximum emotional impact. A home, according to Tracy Design Studio, should be comfortable and easy to live in while still having a powerful impact on people. While they imported the British aesthetic of cosy comfort and order, the textures, materials, and light that cover each room in the house established this Texas-sized house as an English cousin twice removed.
