Starting with Phillip Jeffries’ Cloud wallpaper and crushed velvet gold chairs in the foyer, every inch of this 4,200-square-foot apartment on Las Olas—two units united into one inside Fort Lauderdale’s tallest building—is oozing with beauty. Laure Nell Interiors refurbished the property with all the amenities that make it great for the owners, including ripping out part of the bathrooms and installing sleek and sophisticated new vanities. Authenticity, richness, and irreverence are all revealed in this project thanks to the velvet upholstery. This material completely transforms the space, elevating it to a new level of opulence.

Laure Nell Interiors sought to create a clean, minimalist, and open vibe for this project, their second with these owners, so that the outdoors could integrate seamlessly with the interiors and become the star. To pay homage to a mid-century look, they raised sunken floors, lowered and levelled pitched ceilings, squared off angles, and built outside projections. They chose modest texture and muted hues for the interiors so that each piece of furniture could stand alone as a display piece. The house is filled with timeless finds that have stood the test of time with modern and comfortable upholstery furniture
The master bedroom, den/office, guest bedroom, and all three bathrooms are bathed in a sophisticated mix of blue and silver hues, blurring the distinctions between indoors and out. The wallpaper is railroaded everywhere possible to replicate the ocean waves, as seen in the powder room and master bathroom. Silky textures throughout give off a watery look, and the wallpaper is railroaded anywhere feasible to emulate the ocean waves, as seen in the powder room and master bathroom. The built-ins’ reflective high-gloss surfaces mirror the natural light that floods in via the floor-to-ceiling glass doors. Laure Nell Interiors also used leather, which, in addition to being extremely durable, is also one of the highest-quality upholstery options available, as well as one of the most costly. The contrast between this velvety, fur-based style and the rest of the collection is remarkable.
